21 August to 31 August 2004

Day 4
Tuesday 24

A tour of the Mosel, Hunsrück Region and the Rhine.

We leave the hotel at 09.30 and cross to the other side of the river and then follow it upstream as far as Zell where we will strike inland into the Hunsrück region of The Rhineland Palitinate - the region is famous for its mining in both semi-precious agates as well as copper and slate.

There are a wealth of of old villages with their timber buildings and we shall stop for morning coffee in one of them.

We then continue across the Hunsrück and drop down to the River Rhine at Bacharach where we shall make a lunch stop.

After lunch we drive down stream along the south bank of the Rhine to Boppard where we will make an afternoon coffe and cake stop.

Then it is back into the Hunsrück hills over to the Mosel and the return drive to our hotel.
